The ongoing coronavirus disease has introduced a new normal, drastically altering our lives beyond the imaginable. Although the world is slowly adjusting to the new realities, we continue to live our lives disrupted, so far apart from each other physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. With the unspoken fear and thoughts of demise, popular public spaces become unfamiliar as we keep our distance apart in mute accord. The light extravaganza is a modern lantern installation aiming to spread positive energy, rebuild our bonds, and reconnect our souls during this global pandemic. The LED light fixtures attached to the scaffoldings as if climbing on top of the sky, resembling the traditional sky lanterns in Taiwan.

The design of “AND SOUL IT FLOWS” is a system of lights gradually dispersed into the sky and appearing to be abstracted sky lanterns following the current of the wind. The design delivers a forced perspective by the optical illusion by putting together various lights ranging from flat to spherical, large to small, and closeup to far away on the layer scaffolding structure.
